“Light Table” is the table which is clad in the light.
Originally, asphalt is material used for streets and no impression of asphalt used for table. However, approaching the day after rain on the street with motor oil mark, rainbow colored with red, yellow, green and blue are visible. In “Light Table”, light phenomenon appeal to senses. For taking it in to usual life and function, “Light Table” was made as table. This makes it possible to see many kinds of things by using body and to see full of expressions of lights.

雨がやんだ後、アスファルトの道を歩いていると虹のような現象が起こっているところを発見した。車から漏れたオイルが光にあったって反射してるのだが、とても魅力的に思えた。様々な角度から見れば光の色は、赤、黄色、青、緑があらわれ形も変化する。また水の流れにあわせて広がる様子は命がある生物にも見えた。「雨の後、車のオイル漏れ、太陽の光」と言った複数の偶然が重なり合わなければ出会えない。この体験の面白さを再現したいと思い、床のレベルで止まらず、目線が近くなるようテーブルでの表現を考えた。
